A community rooted in Lombok. We bring together businesses, local communities, and visitors to protect Lombok for generations to come.
We believe that many small actions create big change. SOLAH is the hub that provides the tools, connections, and support to ensure no contribution is lost or forgotten.
“Solah” comes from the Sasak language of Lombok’s indigenous community. It can mean good, correct or beautiful, a word that reflects positivity and harmony—values at the heart of our community.
Vision:
We envision a Lombok where tourism strengthens livelihoods, honours traditions, and protects the natural environment that makes this island special.
Mission:
To create hub of knowledge and collaboration across the tourism industry to advance sustainable tourism in Lombok.

SOLAH began in 2025, sparked by a pilot networking event for sustainability professionals on Lombok. The gathering highlighted both the opportunities and challenges of the island’s rapid tourism growth—alongside a clear problem: efforts were fragmented, and knowledge wasn’t easily accessible. Rather than standing on the side lines, the group created a platform where anyone could contribute, share solutions, and embrace the shared responsibility of caring for Lombok and its people. What started with just a handful of members has grown into a vibrant island-wide network, with thematic groups tackling everything from permaculture to cultural preservation.
Whats Next?
SOLAH is still at the beginning of its journey—and what comes next depends on all of us. Whether you’re a lifelong resident of Lombok or a first-time visitor, there’s a place for you in the SOLAH community. Together, we can ensure tourism becomes a force for positive change across the island.
Our next step is to turn the connections, knowledge and ideas growing across our network into practical tools for change. We’re developing resources for local hospitality businesses, strengthening our community network, and working towards a trusted recognition framework for businesses to share their commitment to sustainability and creating fair opportunities.
But SOLAH isn’t something we want to build alone. SOLAH is currently run almost entirely by volunteers. Every contribution helps us develop resources, connect people, support local initiatives and build the foundations for a more equitable and regenerative tourism model for Lombok.
There are many ways to contribute. Share your knowledge. Recommend a local initiative. Join one of our thematic groups. Tell us about a business doing things differently. Collaborate with us. Or simply share SOLAH with someone who cares about Lombok!
